Azerbaijani FM receives Iraqi minister of trade (PHOTO)

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the delegation headed by Iraqi Minister of Trade Safa Al-Din Muhammad Al-Safi, the press service of Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry reported.

Mammadyarov said that the visit of the guest is very important in terms of expansion of the Azerbaijani-Iraqi relations. According to him, Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate with Iraq in the oil and non-oil sector.

In his turn, the guest thanked Mammadyarov for the reception, expressed his satisfaction with the meetings held. According to Al-Safi, Iraq has always supported the fair position of Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The guest expressed confidence that the agreements signed between the two countries in economic, trade, scientific and other spheres, will give impetus to further development of the relations. At the same time, the establishment of the Council of Entrepreneurs of the two countries would support the expansion of bilateral trade ties.

Al-Safi said Iraqi diplomats would like to participate in courses organized by the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, and thus get acquainted more closely with the country. He expressed confidence that such plans will be implemented after the opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Iraq.  

According to Mammadyarov, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry is ready to provide necessary support in these matters. According to him, the Parliament of Azerbaijan has decided to open an embassy in Iraq. Mammadyarov said he hoped for an early opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in this country.
Then, the sides exchanged views on a range of bilateral, regional and other issues of mutual interest.
