Azerbaijani CEC considers appeals over parliamentary elections

The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) during a regular meeting on Monday has considered appeals over parliamentary elections.
Five of the appeals were returned to the applicants due to vagueness of request and three more due to expiration of a statutorily prescribed time period for filling a complaint, one appeal was sent for examination to the relevant district election commission. The period of consideration for remaining appeals has been extended.
Azerbaijan held the parliamentary elections Nov. 7.
The voter turnout hit about 50.14 percent (roughly 2.48 million voters) in Azerbaijan, the CEC's Elections Information Center told Trend.
The CEC reported that 690 candidates are running for the parliamentary elections.
Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005.
