Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili seeks to establish a Latin American model of governance in Georgia, ex-Parliamentary Speaker and opposition Democratic Movement - United Georgia leader Nino Burjanadze said today in an interview with the Rezonansi newspaper.
"This is a model where five percent of the population is distributed all of the country's wealth and the rest are fighting for survival," she said.
Burjanadze stressed that the People's National Assembly, which will be the main operating body in "dismantling the government," was legitimized on Nov. 25. However, she faced difficulties saying when the National Assembly would be ready to defy the current authorities.
"It takes time to hold serious work on the ground," she said. "We are not ready for this, but we are doing everything we can to achieve this."
Burjanadze expressed her surprise at the attacks on the National Assembly on the part of the opposition and, in particular, ex-Defense Minister Irakli Okurashvili in France.
"His attacks give me reason to think that he is unlikely to be in the opposition," Burjanadze said.
