The Consulate General of Azerbaijan. officially functions In Batumi, said Azerbaijani Consul General Huseyin Najaf. on his first official reception.
According to the Government of Adjaria (Geogia), the consulate is located on Dumbadze street 14. Due to Najafov, besides the main function to protect the interests of citizens of Azerbaijan, the Consulate General will deal with the deepening of bilateral relations in various spheres.
Chairman of Government of Adjaria Levan Varshalomidze called the opening of the Azerbaijani consulate in Batumi "historic moment" and congratulated the residents of Adjaria Azerbaijanis on the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis.
He expressed confidence that the opening of the Consulate General will help attract tourists from Azerbaijan. Varshalomidze pointed to the positive tendency in the growth of number of Azerbaijani tourists from 13,000 last year to 45,000 this year. "In the coming two years we hope to increase this figure to 250 thousand people, " he said.
