Relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan at the highest level in 2011 are intensified in association with important international events, Azerbaijani Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zakir Hashimov said in an interview with Trend, sharing plans for 2011.
"This year the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is expected to visit Kazakhstan. In addition, our leader will attend a summit of the Turkic states, which will be held in autumn of this year in Kazakhstan," Hashimov said.
He didn't specify the date of the Azerbaijani President's official visit to Astana, referring to the fact that both presidents' schedules are being coordinated yet.
"The new summit is aimed at further development of cooperation between the two countries, which is on the rise," Hashimov stressed.
He added that closer Kazakh-Azerbaijani cooperation is also aimed in this direction within Kazakhstan's current chairmanship in the OIC.
"This year Kazakhstan is planned to hold the Islamic Economic Forum, which will also be attended by the Azerbaijani side," he said.
Hashimov recalled that new parliament staff has already started its work in Azerbaijan.
"This year it is planned to organize Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker Ogtay Asadov's visit to Astana to update the inter-parliamentary relations," Hashimov said.
Hashimov added that according to the intergovernmental committee's decision, the Days of Culture of Kazakhstan will be held in Azerbaijan this year.
