Azerbaijan's membership to the Council of Europe serves country's participation in world politics, Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department head Ali Hasanov told Trend.
"The process of democratic national state building, founded by the new Constitution of Azerbaijan, is aimed at turning the country into part of a multinational world, integration into the advanced world system and organization," Hasanov said.
According to him, Azerbaijan joins and uses a positive experience of the world economy and politics in its internal and external relations.
"In this understanding, Azerbaijan's membership to the Council of Europe makes harmonious the independent state building, more fully provides material and spiritual needs of the people of Azerbaijan. We use these relationships to ensure the country's national interests," Hasanov said.
Azerbaijan joined the Council of Europe in 2001. This year, event will be held at the state level dedicated to the 10th anniversary of membership to the Council of Europe.
