The Congress of the World Azerbaijanis sent a formal appeal to the Chief of the Executive Power of Baku Hajibala Abutalibov on January 31 with a request to permit to hold protests in front of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Azerbaijan, the committee told Trend.
The statement, released by the organization, noted that the purpose of the action is a protest against the interference of certain forces of Iran in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan, the anti-Azerbaijani propaganda carried out by TV channel "Seher 2", the insults to the congress, Tehran's ties with Armenia which occupied Azerbaijani territories. Representatives of the Congress also intend to demand the release of democratic functionaries arrested in Southern Azerbaijan.
