Turkmenistan, Bahrain to create intergovernmental commission on cooperation

Turkmenistan and Bahrain have started to form an intergovernmental commission - in accordance with the agreements reached during the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov's recent visit (Feb. 9-10) to Manama, an official Turkmen source said.

A package of intergovernmental documents was signed as a result of the talks at the highest level.

The President at the government meeting in Ashgabat said that Turkmenistan intends to further build mutually beneficial relations with all countries, including the Kingdom of Bahrain and other Arab states, which is one of the priority directions of the country's foreign policy. "

During the visit Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov called upon the financial and industrial groups of Bahrain to make investment in the new promising sectors of the Turkmen economy and to hold bilateral the bilateral trade and investment forum and exhibition in Ashgabat in the near future.

Experts believe that the presence of fuel-energy and refining facilities in both countries and their advantageous geographical position serve as a convenient platform for mutual exchange of experience. The two countries have more opportunities in transport and communications sector and in industries such as textile and processing industry, as well as tourism.
