Ambassador: Indonesia may open embassy in Azerbaijan by late 2011

Indonesia may open the embassy in Azerbaijan by late 2011.

The issue of opening the Embassy of Indonesia in Azerbaijan remains on the agenda. The political decision has been made. The procedural issues must be resolved, Azerbaijani ambassador to Indonesia Ibrahim Hajiyev told Trend over phone from Jakarta.

According to the laws of Indonesia, the procedure of opening a new embassy takes about six months.

The Foreign Ministry of Indonesia announced about the plans to open 11 diplomatic missions worldwide in December last year with the aim of strengthening bilateral ties and improving the economic potential, Xinhua reported earlier.
Permanent Representative of Indonesia will be accredited under the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta. The embassies will be opened in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Oman, Mozambique, Panama, Ecuador, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia. The consulate will be opened in Malaysia.

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Indonesia was opened in 2005.
