A delegation of the Council of Europe headed by Council of Europe Director General for Democracy and Political Affairs Jean-Louis Laurens arrived in Tbilisi this morning.
As Laurens said at the airport, the delegation arrived in Tbilisi to "get acquainted with the progress that Georgia has achieved within its obligations before the CE."
"I intend to hold meetings with Georgian officials, including my friend, Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze. Also, meetings will be held with the public," Laurens said.
He added that he does not intend to visit South Ossetia and Abkhazia during his three-day visit, but noted that the delegation members will visit these regions.
As the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported, during the visit, Laurens will meet with the government and the parliamentary opposition to discuss democratic reforms in Georgia.
