Turkey supports Azerbaijan in recognizing the events of March 31, 1918 in the world as the genocide of Azerbaijanis by Armenians, a member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly from the opposition Nationalist Movement Party Senol Bal told Trend.

"Turkey has always supported Azerbaijan in this issue," she said over phone from Ankara.

A criminal case on genocide was filed for deliberate murder, Usubov said.

Earlier, First Deputy Prosecutor General Rustam Usubov said that the investigation committee's documents were taken from the archives to inform the world about the Armenian atrocities. The materials were translated into English, French and Russian and sent to international organizations.

The Armenian Dashnaks who seized power under Stepan Shaumyan's leadership in March 1918 killed tens of thousands of civilians.

According to a decree signed in 1998 by Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev, March 31 is Azerbaijani Genocide Day.

The genocide, committed with particular cruelty, is a manifestation of hatred not only to the Azerbaijani people, but to the entire Turkic world, Turkish MP from the ruling Justice and Development Party.

"This is a problem for the whole Turkic world," Mustafa Kabakci told Trend over phone from Ankara. Therefore, Turkey will always hold a single position with Azerbaijan on the issue of genocide of Azerbaijanis by Armenians."
