Fatah spokesman: Hamas harms interests of Palestine

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 8 /Trend, A.Tagiyeva/

Commenting on the statement by Hamas on unilateral ceasefire in Israel, a spokesman for Fatah, Ziad Abu Ein said that Hamas does not represent the interests of the Palestinian people and all its actions only hurt Palestine.

Hamas does not know when to use the word and when to use the weapon, Abu Ein told Trend in a telephone conversation from Ramallah.

On Thursday the Hamas group declared a unilateral ceasefire on Israeli territory. This decision was taken on a backdrop of further escalation of long-standing conflict: on Thursday the armed wing of Izzaddin Kassam organization fired at an Israeli school bus, and in response, the Israel defense forces made an airstrike at the barracks of Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip.
According to the representatives of Hamas, the ceasefire agreement was signed by a majority of groups in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas representatives claimed that this step will prevent further escalation of the conflict and stop Israel from further aggression. Official representatives of Hamas said that the agreement came into effect at 23:00 on Thursday.

Abu Ein said the interests of the Palestinian people are represented by the ruling Fatah Party, which for many years, has been fighting for the rights of Palestinians and has already achieved that many countries have recognized the Palestinian state.

"The ruling party knows when to negotiate, when to fight, to defend the rights or hold demonstrations," he added.

Abu Ein said that the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas repeated many times to representatives of Hamas that in order to ensure stability and security, it needs not to give Israel for aggression against Palestine.

"In response to the actions of Hamas, Israel is bombing the civilian population of Palestine. And the Palestinian Authority failed to protect Palestinians from fifth powerful military force in the world," he added.

Abu Ein said all Palestinians should unite to defend their rights and achieve recognition of a Palestinian state, because Palestinians do not know when the world community will be with them, and when against them.
