Brazilian Special Envoy Paulo Joppert called the talks held in Ashgabat this week the next step
in intensifying cooperation between Turkmenistan and Brazil, the Turkmen government said.
The diplomat has held several meetings at the Turkmen Foreign Ministry and the Agriculture
Ministry. The information says that the special envoy of the Brazilian government has expressed interest of state and business circles of his country in strengthening bilateral ties.
Local experts think that the geographical distance is not an obstacle to establish full-scale
intergovernmental dialogue between Turkmenistan and Brazil.
Trade, fuel and energy complex, agriculture, textile, tourism, high technologies and the sphere
of practical use of alternative energy sources are among the promising areas of business partnership.
The parties negotiate about joint exhibitions.
Turkmenistan has recently intensified cooperation with the countries of Latin America. In
particular, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez visited Ashgabat in late 2009. He was the first of
the leaders of this continent, who visited Turkmenistan.
According to the Turkmen side, Venezuela's experience may prove effective in implementing energy projects in Turkmenistan.
