A joint communique has been signed on the results of the gorum of member countries of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) in Ashgabat.

As previously reported, the projects for economic cooperation in Central

Asia and Afghanistan in the sphere of infrastructure development, transport, trade and joint management of natural resources were discussed this time.

The event was organized by the Turkmen government - acting chairman of the SPECA - jointly with the

United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA).

The plenary session was attended by leaders and representatives of various UN agencies, the European Union, OSCE, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS), the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), a number of regional and international organizations, including the authoritative financial organizations, and members of delegations from 19 countries.
