As a result of National Leader Heydar Aliyev's return to power, Azerbaijan avoided the collapse, the First Vice-Speaker, Chairman of the Security and Defence Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafet Askerov said on Tuesday.
"As a result of National Leader Heydar Aliyev's return to power on 15 June 1993, Azerbaijan avoided the chaos and collapse," said Askerov.
He said June 15 is one of the major holidays that the Azerbaijani people celebrate.
Heydar Aliyev was elected the chairman of the Supreme Council of the Azerbaijan Republic 15 June 1993. The Parliament declared that day a holiday in June 1997.
