Kazakhstan takes over OIC chairmanship

Chairman of the 37th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC Member States, Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Khamrokhon Zarifi transferred the organization's chairmanship to the Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov.

Chairman of the 37th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC Member States, Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Khamrokhon Zarifi transferred the organization's chairmanship to the Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov.
"Today's session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC Member States will give a new impetus for further development of the Central Asian region as a whole, and Kazakhstan in particular," Zarifi said opening the 38th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC Member States.

He said that the OIC has worked toward ensuring the prosperity of the Islamic world.
"We would also like to express our gratitude for the important role of respected member countries, their contribution in adopting political, humanitarian, economic resolutions in recent years, reflecting the hopes and ambitions of the Islamic Ummah," Zarifi stressed.

He mentioned that forty years have passed since the Organization of Islamic Conference was established; it has gone a done a significant amount to resolve current problems, conflicts, combating drug addiction, Islamophobia, and a multitude of other issues over the years.
