Iranian jailed opposition leader meets with his family

Iranian opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi met with his family on Wednesday, after 7 months
of being under house arrest, opposition website Kaleme.com reported on Sept. 1.

During this meeting Karroubi insisted on his previous positions about the falsifications in the Iranian presidential elections in June, 2009. After this meeting his family informed that he is in normal psychological and physical conditions.

Karroubi and Mir Hossein Mousavi have been taken under house arrest since February 14 when they called people to rally in support of the Arab uprisings in the region.

Iran's tenth presidential election was held on June 12, 2009 with incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad running against three other candidates. The next morning IRNA announced Ahmadinejad's decisive victory in the elections with two-thirds, or 62 percent, of the votes. A while after, Mousavi and Karoubi issued a statement and called their supporters to protest the decision.
