A delegation of the Senate of California and working group on the Azerbaijan - U.S inter-parliamentary relations discussed the relationship between the two countries in Baku on Monday.
The United States is important country for Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Co-chair of the working group and MP Samad Seyidov said. He stated that the U.S. plays an important role in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"The United States is a country actively supporting Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and right voice. Azerbaijan has always been close the United States, in particular, the issue of combating terrorism. Azerbaijan, which plays a leading role in the South Caucasus, occupies 75 percent of the region's economy. Azerbaijan is also known for its tolerance," Seyidov said.
He praised the work of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in California.
California Senate Environmental Quality Committee Joe Simitian, who leads the delegation, said the visit is aimed to get extensive information about Azerbaijan and its realities, as well as to provide that information to voters.
California Senate consisting of 40 persons has a consensus in relation to Azerbaijan, Simitian said.
He noted Azerbaijan's important role in South Caucasus.
