President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva have today watched the final matches of the 16th world boxing championship here.
The championship, which ran from September 26 to October 8, brought together 570 boxers from 113 countries.
Azerbaijan was represented by the two boxers in the final round.
Mahammadrasul Majidov weighing in at over 91 kg claimed the gold medal, while Teymur Mammadov won the silver in the 91 kg class.
Majidov has also been announced the best boxer of the world championship.
President Ilham Aliyev congratulated boxers and presented medals to them.
Azerbaijan`s national anthem was performed.
The Head of State, winners, President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Ching-Kuo Wu and representatives of the international Olympic Committee posed for photographs.
