Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has received today chairman of the International Relations Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT), Volkan Bozkir and his accompanying delegation.
The Head of State stressed the importance of Turkish MPs` making their first visit to Azerbaijan after parliamentary elections held in Turkey. He expressed satisfaction with the fact that along with members of the Turkish government, this tradition was continued by parliamentarians.
President Aliyev expressed confidence that the visit of the Turkish parliamentary delegation led by Volkan Bozkir to Azerbaijan would be successful. The Azerbaijani President said friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries cover all spheres. He expressed hope that interparliamentary ties would continue to strengthen in the future, as well.
For his part, Volkan Bozkir underlined the significance of the Turkish parliamentary delegation`s first foreign visit to Azerbaijan. He delivered greetings of Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Chairman of GNAT Cemil Cicek to the Azerbaijani leader.
Bozkir also congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the 20th anniversary of restoration of Azerbaijan`s independence. He also described Azerbaijan`s becoming a member of the UN Security Council as an important event.
President Ilham Aliyev asked Bozkir to convey his greetings to President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Chairman of GNAT Cemil Cicek.
