NATO stands ready to support Azerbaijan's defence reforms, NATO's Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning Hüseyin Diriöz said during the NISA-organized conference on the topic of "Celebrating 20th anniversary of Independence: Evaluation of Azerbaijan's foreign policy" in Baku on Nov. 25.
He said Azerbaijan is indeed contributing to combating global concerns such as terrorism.
As a key player in the energy sector, Azerbaijan is urgent, is a champion for cooperation in the energy security, Diriöz stated.
NATO's cooperation with the South Caucasian countries - Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia is based on the programmes: Partnership for Peace, Individual plan of activity on cooperation and Planning and Analysis.
These documents define the goals and objectives of the Alliance to render consultative aid to partner countries in the reforms made in the sphere of defence, security and military policy.
