French Senate delegation acquainted with EU observation mission’s work in Georgia

The members of the French Senate delegation visited the head office of EU observation mission in Tbilisi and got acquainted with its work. The delegation, which included representatives of several political groups of the French Senate, was headed by a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces, member of the French delegation to PACE, Jean-Marie Bockel, the press service of the mission said.
"The French visitors were informed about the role and mission's activity, the progress made over the last three years in terms of stability, the meetings within a mechanism to prevent and respond to incidents, as well as the difficulties and future challenges," a statement said.
According to the mission, the delegation members were interested in the situation in terms of security in the territories adjacent to the administrative borders with Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region of Georgia, the number of incidents and arrests, as well as the prospects for conflict settlement.
