The President of Georgia hopes for the presidency of Lithuania, to complete the process of association agreement registration with the EU, to sign a free trade agreement and to register an agreement on visa-free regime with the EU.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili received Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius and Prince Albert of Monaco at his estate in Kvareli, and gave them wine from his vineyards.
Mikheil Saakashvili told reporters that he was pleased to receive such distinguished guests in his estate. With regard to the topic of the conversation the President noted that it was mainly about the relationship of Georgia with the EU, as Lithuania will chair the EU since the second half of next year.

"Lithuania will chair the European Union in the second half of next year. It coincides with the expiration of my presidency, and we expect to complete the process of association agreement registration with the EU, to sign a free trade agreement and to register an agreement on visa-free regime with the EU by this time. And the fact that Lithuania will be the chairman in this period is a good coincide, as we wouldn't be able to find the better ally," Mikheil Saakashvili said.

Kubilius in turn noted that Lithuania is primarily supported Georgia's territorial integrity and its integration into NATO and EU.

"Lithuania will chair the EU next year and execution of agreements on free trade and liberalization of visa regime is planned for this period. We will achieve this goal," Kubilius said.

The President of Georgia as a token of gratitude for the support of Georgia awarded the Prime Minister of Lithuania the Order of Honor and received a chronological list of the relations that bind the two countries from the Middle Ages as a gift. Saakashvili found the fact in the list, dated 1465 year in which the king of Georgia referred to as the king of Imereti, Samegrelo and Abkhazia. "Territorial integrity of Georgia was recognized for the first time here. But Russia claims that Abkhazia was not part of Georgia. I will send this document to Medvedev," Saakashvili said.
