A solemn ceremony of opening of the Estonian embassy was held in Astana on Friday.
"The opening of the embassy in the center of Astana is symbolic, since all the important facilities are located exactly in the center of all capitals. Our embassy is located on the left bank, being built opposite the new Opera House in Astana," Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet, who is on an official visit to Astana, said.
He said his country's embassy will issue Schengen visas not only to Kazakhs, but also citizens of other republics of Central Asia.
His Kazakh counterpart Yerzhan Kazykhanov expressed confidence that "opening of the Estonian embassy will give new impetus to the development of bilateral relations".
"Estonia is an important partner of Kazakhstan in the Baltic region," the minister said, and noted that "over 20 years of diplomatic relations between our countries, a constructive and confidential dialogue at all levels of interaction has been established".
