The number of persons applying for a visa to Iran has significantly increased in recent days, so Iran's consulate in Baku has taken several measures to ease conditions for issuing visas, spokesman of the embassy Abbas Iskenderi told Trend.

He noted that, a number of procedures required before issuing a visa are canceled. Special privileges are granted for the sick people, who travel to Iran for treatment. If they have medical documentation from a doctor, then a visa to them is issued faster.

"In addition, despite the fact that tomorrow (on Friday) is mourning in Iran - the day of the death of the Prophet Ali, the consulate will issue visas," Iskenderi said.

He noted that after a temporary visa regime was introduced for the citizens of Azerbaijan (in connection with the forthcoming Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran) long queues began to form in front of the consulate.

"Employees of the consulate serve the citizens also after the end of the working day" Iskenderi said.

Temporary visa regime was introduced for the citizens of Azerbaijan during August 5-31 in connection with the forthcoming Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran.
