Consul general: Azerbaijanis ready to help earthquake victims in Iran

Iran supported Azerbaijani people in hard times, and Azerbaijanis should help Iran's earthquake victims today, Azerbaijani Consul General in Tabriz Ali Alizade said at a meeting with head of East Azerbaijan province Ahmad Beygi, FARS ageny reported today.

Iran supported Azerbaijani people in hard times, and Azerbaijanis should help Iran's earthquake victims today, Azerbaijani Consul General in Tabriz Ali Alizade said at a meeting with head of East Azerbaijan province Ahmad Beygi, FARS ageny reported today.

Azerbaijan is ready to develop multilateral cooperation with Iran. Any tension between the two countries will not benefit anyone, Alizade said.

Iranian and Azerbaijani people must help each other during hard days, Beygi said.

The humanitarian cargo delivered by 25 cars, was transferred to the Iranian Red Crescent Society in Bilasuvar, and three more cars were also delivered in Julfa and then sent to the earthquake zone.

Humanitarian aid includes 3,000 blankets, 1,000 sleeping kits, 460 tents, 40 tons of flour, 20 tons of rice, 9 tons of tea, 10 tons of sugar, 19 tons of oil, 10 tons of pasta, juices, water and other essential goods.

An earthquake measuring 6.2 magnitude, which killed more than 300 people and injured about 2,500 occurred in Iranian province of East Azerbaijan on Aug. 11.
