The main cause of the unsuccessful opposition activity in Azerbaijan is down to the insincere relations between the Musavat Party and the Azerbaijani Popular Front Party, the Azerbaijani Democratic Party chairman Sardar Jalaloglu told Trend today.

"Most of the negative trends in the Azerbaijani opposition are connected with the rivalry between the Musavat and Azerbaijani Popular Front Party," Jalaloglu said. "We said earlier that the two parties will not make concessions to each other and will not appear with a single presidential candidate to be nominated by the Public Chamber."

He said that opposition Public Chamber is monopolised by the two opposition parties. However the Musavat Party and the Azerbaijani Popular Front Party think highly of themselves.

"The management of the Public Chamber is also divided into two groups," he added. "One group includes supporters and members of Musavat, another - supporters and members of the Azerbaijani Popular Front Party. This is connected with the fact that the Public Chamber was originally created on the wrong basis.
"Now they say. We will discuss the issue of nominating a single candidate for president two days before the elections. It is too early now. We will see how the the public will consider our actions."

He said that this tactic of the Musavat and Azerbaijani Popular Front parties led to the defeat of the entire Azerbaijani opposition.
"The decisions of the Public Chamber are insignificant for them," he said. "The most important thing is that the interests of the two parties are higher than the interests of society. Even without consulting allies, everyone nominates a candidate. This leads to an undesirable reaction. I believe that these parties have no real cooperation."

Chairman of the Azadliq party Ahmed Orudj also stressed the unsuccessful activity of the Musavat and Azerbaijani Popular Front parties.

He added that it does not matter whether Isa Gambar and Ali Kerimli will nominate their candidates in the presidential elections or not. Regarding the ban on discussing the issue of a single candidate from the Public Chamber, it is absurd, Orudj said.

"That is, the organization is not ready to discuss a common issue and fears of its collapse because of this discussion," Orudj said." What will be changed by nominating people in this absurd situation?"

Although the so-called Public Chamber decided not to discuss the issue of a single candidate, member of the Coordination Council of the Public Chamber Isa Gambar expressed a desire to participate in the presidential elections of 2013. This statement was ambiguously perceived by Musavat's major ally - Azerbaijani Popular Front Party.
