Azerbaijani MP Gular Ahmadova has sent a letter to Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov today, the website of the Azerbaijani Parliament said today.

According to the letter, the video with former Azerbaijani University rector Elshad Abdullayev and MP Gular Ahmadova was spread by the online media outlets on September 25.

Abdullayev gave a large sum of money to be elected as a member of the parliament to Gular Ahmadova. The Baku City Prosecutor's Office has filed a criminal case under Article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code in this regard. The investigation is underway.

Ahmadova believes that the investigating body will reveal the objective truth and those responsible in this issue.

This information was discussed in some circles. Taking advantage of this issue, the destructive forces tried to cast doubt on the legitimacy of the Azerbaijani Parliament, which was formed on the basis of democratic and transparent elections, Ahmadova's letter said.

Ahmadova stressed that she intends to assist in the objective investigation. Therefore, she considers that the continuation of her activity as a MP can be considered by society as an influence on the investigation. Using it, the concerned forces try to cast doubt on the objectivity of the investigation.

Therefore, Gular Ahmadova rejects her deputy mandate and requests to take a decision in accordance with the rules defined by the legislation according to the fifth paragraph of Article 89 of the Azerbaijani Constitution.

Taking into account that the issue of depriving her deputy mandate is considered by the Central Election Commission, Gular Ahmadova appealed about voluntary rejection of her deputy mandate to the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission.
