The winner of parliamentary elections will shortly establish friendly and close relations with Azerbaijani government, the leader of the Georgian Dream opposition coalition Bidzina Ivanishvili said at a briefing in Tbilisi.

"We have all facilities to establish such relations and we will do our best for it," he added.

He thanked Azerbaijani government and people for supplying preferential gas to Georgia for social needs.

"Unfortunately, current Georgian government is doing everything for Georgian people not to feel the profit. We are going to stop this," Ivanishvili noted.

He stressed that there are all conditions for establishment of the closest relations.

"I have established a friendship with our co citizens Azerbaijanis during pre election trips and got introduced to many Azerbaijanis. I got to love these hard working people, this is why I am going to do everything for their integration to Georgian society for them to occupy senior positions in the government," he stated.

Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on a mixed - list, majority system. Around 150 MPs must be elected - 77 on the lists (a passing barrier of five per cent) and 73 - single-seat constituencies.

Parliament will receive more authority in 2013 after amendments to the Constitution take effect resulting in the president's power being reduced.
