Azerbaijan is one of the leading countries in the field of Internet and in the region for the number of internet users, its promotion, dissemination and other aspects, Head of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department Ali Hasanov told Trend on Monday.

"Holding this form in Baku, first of all, is regarded as appreciation of Azerbaijan's activity in this sphere. International community has decided to hold an international conference in Baku after assessing the situation with the Internet in Azerbaijan. Furthermore, it will be a major impetus to the further development of Internet in Azerbaijan," Hasanov said.

He said participation of representatives of all international Internet service providers, government and non-governmental organizations of Europe will stimulate the future development of Internet in Azerbaijan and will support the development of this sphere.

"The country will be in the spotlight of all Internet users, because an exhibition will also be held in Azerbaijan in those days," Hasanov said. "Using this opportunity, we will demonstrate our capabilities, as well as by studying the international experience in this field we will use it in the country in the future."

IGF forum will be held in Baku within the International Telecommunications Exhibition BakuTel-2012 (Nov.6-9). The forum is expected to be attended by more than 1,500 representatives from over a hundred countries, including representatives of government agencies, private sector, civil society, Internet community, international organizations and others.

Within the forum it is planned to discuss posting state institutions' information in the public domain and its possible use for the development of new products and services. One of the key issues on the agenda of the Forum will be the fight against cybercrime, benefits of applying "cloud computing", protection of intellectual property rights. Also use of the global network in operations to eliminate consequences of natural disasters will be discussed within the seventh meeting of the IGF.
