If there is intervention into Syria, it will be costly for the whole world, as Syria is the last bastion of secularism, stability and peaceful coexistence in the region, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said in an interview to Russia Today.

According to Assad, if foreign interference occurs in Syra, a chain reaction will follow which will affect all the countries from the Atlantic to the Pacific and the entire world.

"I do not think the West will go this way. However if this happens, no one can predict what will happen next," Assad said.

Answering the question which country he would go to if he leaves Syria, Assad said that from Syria he could only go to Syria.

"Syria is the only place where I can be. I'm not a puppet of the West to go to the West, or somewhere else. I am a Syrian, I was born in Syria and have to live and die in Syria," he stressed.
