Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 28 / Trend M. Aliyev /
An Armenian delegation did not participate at the General Assembly session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) in Baku.
Journalists asked BSEC Vice President Asaf Hajiyev to explain the reason. He said the invitation was sent to the Armenian side in August.
"Armenia was invited to attend the event in August this year," Hajiyev said at a press conference following the session of the BSEC General Assembly. "A document confirming its receipt was obtained, but the Armenian side announced that it allegedly did not receive an invitation and then reported that it had got lost somewhere."
He said that the Armenian side demanded guarantees of safety during their stay in Baku.
"We always guarantee safety at all international events at a high level," he said. "Azerbaijan also participated at the BSEC meeting in Armenia and did not require any security guarantees."
