Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh arrived in Turkmenistan on Wednesday to participate in the CIS summit.

The Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Cabinet of Ministers Saparduru Toyliyev, the representatives of Azerbaijani diplomatic mission to Turkmenistan met the prime minister at the national airport.

A summit of the CIS head of states is held in Ashgabat on Wednesday. Discussion of more than 20 documents is expected at the summit.

Firstly, it is planned to discuss a draft statement on the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The text of the statement has been agreed with the representatives of the states.

The document emphasizes the importance of the upcoming event and focuses on the preparation of a series of commemorative events.

Turkmenistan hosts this forum as the CIS chairman country in 2012.

It is expected that the Chairman of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Council, the head of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko will make a speech in Ashgabat on the activities of the CIS IPA on strengthening cooperation on integration.

In addition, it is planned to adopt a decision on declaring 2013 the year of environmental culture and environment protection in the CIS.

The CIS Executive Committee reported that the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council will review the draft documents relating to the field of security and countering new challenges and threats, including an agreement on the formation of the CIS Council of heads of financial intelligence units.

It is also expected to approve the long-term development directions of the CIS united air defense system.

Approval of the chairman of the CIS Economic Court, the head of CIS Anti-Terrorist Centre, the head of CIS Coordinating Committee for Air Defense Issues, are separate set of issues on the agenda.

The summit will also consider a number of other projects.
