"Vahdat" party will support Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the upcoming elections.
"There is a decision on the party's participation in the elections, but we will not act on our own as opposed to other parties," party chairman Tahir Kerimli told Trend today. "Our party has decided to support President Aliyev."
Touching upon the nomination of a single candidate by representatives of the opposition camp, Kerimli said that even if the opposition could agree on the nomination of a single candidate, it has no chance of winning.
Kerimli said that the opposition is unable on its own to take any step now and create a social base.
"The opposition failed to unite," he said. "It is discussing the main candidate for the nomination. I'm not sure that anyone can act as the main candidate, because the opposition camp has too many candidates."
The presidential elections in Azerbaijan are planned to be held this autumn.
