The Georgian president has refused the services of the Special State Protection Service, spokesperson for the Georgian President Manana Manjgaladze said at a press briefing at the presidential palace on Tuesday.
She said the president decided to refuse any state protection service. At present, there is no protection for the president.
"But this will not prevent him pursuing an active policy and meeting with people," she said.
This decision was taken by President Saakashvili after the State Security Service was headed by Anzor Chubinidze, by replacing Teimuraz Janashia from this position, who recently led the presidential personal guard.
According to the Georgian Parliament's decision, the State Guard passed to Prime Minister's auspices within the restrictions of the presidential powers.
Manjgaladze said that the new government and the majority of the Georgian Parliament tried to associate the activity of the state guard with the constitutional limitations planned to be adopted by a majority.
"The president believes that the constitutional changes are not connected with the activity of the presidential institute and his personal life," she said.
