The date of the Greek foreign minister's visit to Azerbaijan has been announced. Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos will visit Azerbaijan on April 29-30, diplomatic sources reported to Trend on Monday.
The visit will be official. Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece Dimitrios Kourkoulas discussed preparations for the visit in Baku in early March.
"Greece is aimed at expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in a bilateral format and within the European Union (EU)," Kourkoulas said during a press conference on the outcome of the visit in Baku.
The Greek EU Presidency in the first quarter of 2014 will provide additional opportunities to strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan, he said.
It is expected to cover these issues with the Azerbaijani side during the forthcoming visit.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, by the end of 2012, the trade turnover between the countries amounted to $849.04 million with a share of exports of $833.8 million. Last year, export operations between the countries increased more than fourfold and imports by 71.5 per cent.
