A senior Iranian commander warns that any possible war on the Korean peninsula would inflict great losses on the US and its allies, Mehr News Agency reported.
Deputy Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri said that the US military presence in South Korea is the root cause of tensions in the region.
He also criticized the United Nations and other international organizations for inaction on the issue.
Jazayeri went on to say that if international bodies had acted efficiently and independent of major powers, they could have prevented tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
He said North Korea has no choice but to confront America's mounting pressures and plots.
