CEC: No problems with implementation of citizens' constitutional rights in Azerbaijan

On Monday the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) conducts specialized courses on electoral law for the chairmen of District Election Commissions (DECs), which are organized to educate the members of the lower election commissions in accordance with the ‘National Action Plan to improve the protection of human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan’ approved by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan dating December 27, 2011.

On Monday, the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) conducts specialized courses on electoral law for the chairmen of District Election Commissions (DECs), which are organized to educate the members of the lower election commissions in accordance with the 'National Action Plan to improve the protection of human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan' approved by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan dating December 27, 2011.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the courses, the CEC chairman Mazahir Panahov noted that this event is considered to be one of the high-level events held by the CEC.

According to the CEC chairman, Azerbaijan is on the threshold of a historic event.

"Presidential elections, which are of great historical significance, will start soon. During the upcoming presidential elections in Azerbaijan, there will be no problems regarding implementation of constitutional rights of citizens. Socio-political stability necessary to conduct elections is observed in the country," Panahov said.

Political parties in the country operate in the context of pluralism, the media is free of control, the CEC chairman said.

"The CEC is obliged to ensure that the elections are held at a high level," Panahov said.

It should be noted that, CEC chairman Mazahir Panahov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, head of Department of work with regional administration and local self-governance bodies Zeynal Nagdaliyev, chairman of the Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev, the First Vice-Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Askerov and Head of the OSCE Office in Baku Koray Targay are also participating in the opening ceremony of courses.

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled to be held in Autumn.
