The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) will release two interim reports on pre-election situation in Azerbaijan on the eve of presidential elections.

The report will also include the assessment of pre-election situation in the country, the assessment of OSCE ODIHR requirements prepared by the mission, the organization told Trend on Tuesday.

Along with the core group, it is recommended to send around 30 long-term and 280 short-term observers from the countries represented in the organization as an observation mission in presidential elections.

Azerbaijan will hold presidential elections on October 9.

Long-term mission of OSCE ODIHR has already arrived in Baku.

The elections are held in the country each 5 years. Azerbaijani citizens who have higher education, who have been permanently residing in the country for more than 10 years, who have not been convicted on a serious crime, not having any obligations to other states and those who do not have double citizenship are entitled to the right to be elected to the post of president of Azerbaijan.

To date the documents of 18 persons were presented to the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan for their approval as presidential candidates and 15 out if them were approved.

Signature lists were presented to these people for the collection of more than 40,000 signatures to support their registration as candidates for the post of president.
