The Azerbaijani government has offered assistance to Pakistan for earthquake relief, Azerbaijani ambassador in Pakistan Dashgin Shikarov told Trend on Wednesday.

During a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Pakistan on Wednesday, Shikarov conveyed proposals from the Azerbaijani Government to assist in the disaster relief.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan is ready to send rescue workers into the country along with a special technique as well as humanitarian aid, the diplomat said.
Currently the ambassador is waiting for a response from Pakistan.

According the U.S. Geological Survey, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck the south-western Pakistani province of Baluchistan on Tuesday.

According to seismologists, the epicentre of the quake was located in the territory of Baluchistan province, 66 kilometres north-east of the city of Avaran. The earthquake source lies at a depth of 20 kilometres. It was followed by four aftershocks, the magnitude of the most powerful being 5.9.

According to the latest data of Ministry of Emergency Situations of Pakistan, the number of victims of the earthquake stands at 60 people, more than 300 were injured and over 200 houses destroyed.

There are no citizens of Azerbaijan among the victims in the earthquake in Pakistan.
