The UN Security Council is losing influence and power in people's minds, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Friday, Anadolu agency reported.

According to Turkish President, Saudi Arabia's decision to reject a seat on the UN Security Council is the right decision, and the permanent members should think about it.

Today, Saudi Arabia, which for the first time in its history became a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council on Thursday, rejected the seat on the UN Security Council, because of the policy of 'double standards' and the ineffectiveness of the Security Council in addressing the key international issues, the statement of Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry said.
