Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov will speak at the UN Security Council.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov arrived in New York to attend the high-level meeting that will be held within Azerbaijan's chairmanship in UN Security Council on the topic "Strengthening of cooperation between the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation", press-service of the Foreign Ministry said.
The meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan.
It is expected that Azerbaijani Foreign Minister will speak during the meeting and a statement of Azerbaijani chairmanship in the UN Security Council will be issued as well.
The development of cooperation between the UN and OIC and determination of various forms of this cooperation was a priority during the Azerbaijani chairmanship in the UN Security Council. Azerbaijan was the initiator of this cooperation.
According to the rotation, Azerbaijan chaired the UN Security Council from October 1, 2013
