Azerbaijani MP: U.S. considers Azerbaijan a strategic partner
Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 8
By Elchin Mekhtiyev- Trend: The U.S. considers Azerbaijan a strategic partner and the two countries are working to further build relations, Azerbaijani MP Azay Guliyev told Trend on Nov.8 commenting on U.S. president Barack Obama's letter to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on his re-election to the post of president.
"The strategic relationship between Azerbaijan and the U.S. are well established and the U.S. cannot ignore them. In addition, the Azerbaijani president has made great contributions to strengthening and expanding relations with the U.S.," the MP said.
According to Azay Guliyev, the policy pursued by the Azerbaijani state in reality is appreciated not only within the country, but also beyond it.
Guliyev believes that the congratulatory letter of Barack Obama outlines contours, the main directions and priorities of the high cooperation between Azerbaijan and the U.S. for the next five years.
"I am confident that these priorities cover the issues that are on the agenda of the two countries both from an economic and political point of view as well as in terms of the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and this is of course in the interests of Azerbaijan and the U.S.," the MP said.
