Azerbaijan supports the process of reforms in the ECO to transform the Organization into an effective and efficient body, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at the 21st Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization in Tehran today.

Azerbaijan supports the process of reforms in the ECO to transform the Organization into an effective and efficient body, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at the 21st Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization in Tehran today.

"Today ECO countries are emerging as vibrant economies and are known for their strive for an enabling business environment, competitiveness and openness to innovation," Mammadyarov said. "The member-states must develop the cooperation and explore other mutual economic opportunities."

The twenty first meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) is being held in Tehran today.

Elmar Mammadyarov is representing Azerbaijan at the meeting.

Delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Iran are also attending the twenty first ECO Ministerial Council meeting.

A meeting of representatives of the member states of the organisation was held in preparation for the twenty first ECO Ministerial Council meeting in Tehran on November 24-25. A charter of the Analytical Centre which will operate in Baku was coordinated at the event. Work carried out in transport, trade, energy, environment and agriculture in 2012-2013 was discussed.

The situation with the implementation of ECO projects, programmes and proposals reflected in the work programme for 2014 were assessed. The text of the communiqué was prepared for the Council of Ministers' adoption.
