Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Oqtay Asadov has congratulated MPs and the Azerbaijani people on the signing of the final investment decision on the Shah Deniz-2 project today.
"This document is a triumph of the oil strategy of national leader Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijan and the result of far-sighted policy of President Aliyev," he said at a parliamentary meeting. "Signing of this document will serve the welfare of the Azerbaijani people."
MP Ali Masimli compared the signed document with the Contract of the Century signed in 1994 and called the document signed today the "Contract of the XXI century".
"This document will play a significant role in supplying energy to Europe and Europe's energy security," he said.
Other MPs also congratulated Azerbaijani people on signing of this important document and expressed confidence that this will contribute to improving the welfare of the Azerbaijani people.
A signing ceremony of the final investment decision on Shah Deniz-2 project has been held in Baku today.
