By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:

Azerbaijani Presidential Administration's Deputy Head and Director of Administration's Foreign Relations Department, Novruz Mammadov has dismissed the reports on his involvement in human rights activists' detention in the country.

Some media outlets disseminated the information that human rights activists Leyla and Arif Yunus were allowed to get on a plane at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport upon Novruz Mammadov's order.

During a meeting with journalists on April 29, Mammadov was outraged by the report and denied it.

"A website or an agency disseminating this information is engaged in provocation and doing this to form a definite opinion," he said. "I don't understand how they can deceive the public by such false news."

Human rights activists Leyla and Arif Yunus were arrested at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport on April 28.
