President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Minister of State for Energy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Michael Fallon.

Minister Fallon conveyed greetings and best wishes on behalf of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Cameron to the head of state.

Michael Fallon said he recalls with pleasure the British prime minister's meeting with President Ilham Aliyev in The Hague.

The British minister noted that his country attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan in a variety of fields, particularly in energy and non-energy sectors.

The head of state said there are good opportunities for the further expansion of cooperation between the two countries in various areas, in particular energy and non-energy sectors.

Noting that economy in the non-energy sector has grown dynamically in the last six months, President Ilham Aliyev described this as a vivid evidence of diversification of the country's economy.

Touching upon 20 years of successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and BP, the head of state expressed hope that British companies will be further closely involved in the implementation of energy, infrastructure, construction and other joint projects.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings of PM David Cameron and asked Michael Fallon to communicate his greetings to the prime minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
