Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 1
By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:
There is no conflict, antagonism from the religious point of view in Azerbaijan, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE) Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni said at the opening ceremony of the Council of Europe's meeting on the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue "Intercultural dialogue - the relationship between culture and religion" in Baku Sept. 1.
She regretted that cases of anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and intolerance are growing in some European countries. As a result of the economic crisis in Europe, a number of social problems occurred. The contradictions are growing between the religions that are not in contact with each other.
"Azerbaijan is geographically located between the West and the East," she said. "The religious diversity is an integral feature of society."
