Iran supports Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Mahmoud Vaezi said, adding that Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced persons should return to their homes.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku on Nov.7, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
During the meeting, the sides emphasized the significance of meetings between Azerbaijani and Iranian presidents for the development of bilateral relations. They also expressed satisfaction with the current level of relations between the two countries.
Mammadyarov, stressing the importance of promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between two countries said that friendship and partnership between Azerbaijan and Iran contributes to strengthening of regional peace and prosperity.
Vaezi, for his part, said Iran attaches particular importance to the development of relations with Azerbaijan, adding that the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Tehran gave a particular impetus to the development of bilateral ties.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the issues of cooperation within the intergovernmental commission, development of legal framework and other issues of mutual interest.
