Some state structures and institutions of the US have been making biased and false statements on Azerbaijan recently, said Azay Guliyev, MP of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani parliament), chairman of the Council on State Support to NGOs under the President of Azerbaijan.

He made the remarks while speaking at the hearings held in Baku on "Human rights' situation in the US: paradoxes of the country's foreign policy".

Guliyev said that these statements do not reflect the strategic partnership of the US with Azerbaijan and cause concerns in Azerbaijani society.

"After receiving appeals from NGOs, we decided to hold these hearings, to study the human rights' situation in the US, and to find out on what grounds they make such statements on Azerbaijan," the MP said.

Human rights are violated in the US on racial and religious grounds, according to Guliyev.

"Why do the US 'think tanks' target Azerbaijan while there is Guantanamo Bay in the US and human rights are violated in Ferguson city?," he asked.

Guliyev said that as a strategic partner, Azerbaijan has fulfilled all its obligations.

"Armenia made a strategic decision on membership in the Eurasian Economic Union. Did the US protest it? Why doesn't the US express opinion about the declaring 78 political prisoners in Armenia and 102 in Georgia by NGOs?"

Guliyev said former US diplomats such as Kauzlarich, Kramer make statements on Azerbaijan, adding that as former diplomats, they can't do that on their own behalf.

At the same time, the US officials voice calls against Azerbaijan, according to the MP.

"I believe that these state representatives can't make such biased statements against Azerbaijan on their own will," he said.

Guliyev said that Azerbaijan pursues policy to protect its national interests, adding that such pressure can by no means affect the country's political line.
